While spring is still fresh I am enjoying the last few weeks of layers! Last week was beyond hot and I found myself majorly confused by my own wardrobe however come Sunday when I had a thousand warm weather ideas it was pretty cold again so I maxed out on all the layers I could!

Hats my friends! I love hats beyond words and yet I have never had a great summer hat, although I would like to change that this summer for now I am enjoying the chance to wear my beautiful purple, Downton abbey hat which I paired up with my go-to stripped shirt.

I must admit going back to layers I found myself struggling with making interesting outfits. I continually fell back onto the simplicity of T-shirts and jeans and as anyone can tell you, thats not fashion really, is it?

So the only thing to do? Throw some patterns at it! and of course look forward to some hot weather in the near future!!

Capsule Wardrobe | Pinterest Challenge

The Capsule Wardrobe, Pinterest Challenge.

I’m going to introduce you to a little game I have started playing when getting dressed; it’s called the Pinterest challenge. Now yes I’m sure that this is already a thing but lets just, for the sake of my ego pretend that in actual fact I am a genius and that this is all my idea, kay?

So basically you find your favourite Pinterest outfit of the moment and you recreate it. Sounds simple enough right? And more than likely something you already do on the regular but here’s the kicker it has to be made by items already in your wardrobe, or in this case, your capsule wardrobe! You obviously get bonus points for the more difficult the outfit.

I’ve switched up the roll neck jumper for my triangular purple jumper and my fuzzy, faux fur scarf, and then obviously mixed it up with my favourite Downton Abbey hat! I am actually surprised by how well this turned out for me. Normally I think this jumper just draws attention to the fact that I am not all that tiny but I feel that with extensive leg on show that it actually doesn’t make me feel elephant sized! Anyway what do you think . . . are you up for the Pinterest challenge?

Housekeeping . . .

I have hit somewhat of a milestone. I’ve almost used all my storage here on WordPress! Because of this I am learning the complicated world of embedding images so firstly my sizing may be out of whack for a while or there might be some images missing. If they are missing please do drop me a comment so I can rectify it. I am intending to go back through the blogs archives to replace images with externally hosted ones so past posts may be a little messy for a short while . . .

As far as this outfit is concerned I wear this far more often than I’d care to admit. I bought this top back in the last Next sale unfortunantely just as the weather turned so although I don’t really need long sleeves every evening when me and the boy go out for a walk it comes in handy! I also love how long it is and think it will be great for cycling next year in the winter. Paired with Ponte leggings and boots it was great this Saturday for a trip into town for a joint eye test because we’re cute like that.

Today I am in leggings and a tunic something like this . . . In the middle of the working week you ask? Why yes, yes indeed because today I have been living the dream and have been out shopping for Phoenix and the Lions Spring Antique and Vintage stock  at Newark’s International Antiques and Collectors Fair. We spent a grand total of five and half hours today collecting some really great pieces for the store and man do my feet want a break!

In fact on the topic of feet I have been missing my heels with a passion! I have lived in flat boots, converse and ballet pumps for so long now that I will do (almost) anything to put on my heels again. So of course date night with the boy has become a weekly thing just so I can wear my many heels for a few hours! (not all at the same time of course – that would be silly . . . or genius?)

Luckily this weekend we are going away to Oxfordshire with my family to celebrate my grandparents 50th wedding anniversary! So not only do I get to spend time with my favourite people in the world but I also have an excuse to pull out my heels again (and tower over Josh – He must love me!)

Until then for what we got up to (with limited internet I may add – the horror!) Check out the official Phoenix and the Lion Twitter page! we found the cutest pigs that have a fantastic story that’ll all be revealed soon!

psstttt . . . I’m wearing this tomorrow! (god forbid I explain the title! – it’s been a long day . . .)

I’m on a mission. A colour mission. I may have  mentioned this before but back in university my wardrobe considered off four colours, black, white, red and navy. Don’t get me wrong this made dressing pretty easy and let me be pretty put together at all times, but you know what else? It was incredibly boring. Yep you heard that right, dressing, boring? so incredibly boring.

So as I do I set out on a mission to not only focus on better quality (less cheap bulk buys – le sigh) but to also make sure that each piece can both fit in with my wardrobe and be well loved and remixed but to also be at the same time completely different!

I am really trying to not only inject some much needed colour but to also add patterns and interest and I hope with paying that little bit more that I will also get some more textures and often its the little fancy extras on a piece of clothing (like a little bit of velvet covering the seems) that just adds to that wow I feel good factor! and who doesn’t want that?

This weekend marks 4 years of Josh putting up with me. Its pretty monumental.

So to celebrate we are going into London and have a date weekend. This one is all about doing everything we love but can’t fit in on a regular weekend. No errands! So of course I’m taking him shopping.

The one drawback is because of check in times we need to carry most of our clothes all day for all of the two days. Therefore everything we’re bringing needs to fit into a rucksack. Not an easy task when you’re a constant over packer.

So I have undertaken some rules to help. Which are:

  • Stick to three colours
  • Everything has to be remix-able with one another
  • and it has to fit into a small rucksack.

I am happy to report that this has worked and I may or may not have bought two new things just for the occasion. Opps, thats the part I don’t advise. Its not always budget friendly buying new clothes but it is our anniversary . . . so I’m letting myself off.

So today I just wanted to apologise for not being around more! What kind of a blog mother just abandons her blog like that? Well this one apparently. See, heres the thing. We are going to India! For ten days and its completely zapping my brain function. Mainly because we are going for Christmas so I have be trying (and failing) to fit in all my many christmas related business.

Christmas shopping, seeing friends, packing, buying flight socks . . . you know, the normal! I am currently both excited and petrified. Its a delicate line im walking but one I can’t seem to stop so my creative outfit side is well . . . a little lacking. Today im wearing an odd mix of grey strips (high waisted mid length skirt)/white cropped tee, cream socks and grey not sensible if it snows ankle boots and leggings (cause wrestling with tights this morning just wasn’t happening! Needless to say I’m a bit of a mess.

Thank god we still have part three of one skirt, three ways! Yay! Look out next week for holiday snaps! In the meantime though, find me on Instagram+ and Pinterest+ where I have a fresh Board just for the blog! You lucky things you!

I’m beginning to think that I have a problem. A boot Problem.

My shoe collection has become less shoes and more boots this last year than I (normally) care to mention. I think I went from last year having one pair of knee high slouchy boots (my beloved cowgirl/pirates of the Caribbean boots – I can’t believe those babies aren’t still around, it makes me sad.) One heeled knee high boots to . . . well a lot.

So there’s no shame here right? (If so . . . um, shhh??) Here’s the list;

Trainer boots x2 (grey and sand – yes I bought the same shoe in two colours!)

Sort of crepe soled boots x2 (Brown/Black again I bought the same shoe twice)

Black knee high boots (flat)

Grey-ey flat sort of pirate style ankle boots

Brown ankle boots (there new, A, I love them. B, this is my problem!)

The Sparkle boots of joy (there glitter is now falling off in places, again, makes me sad!)

Cowgirl ankle boots

My snowy fur lined boots (which have a heel and still allow me to walk in the snow fine (shocking)

That’s 11 pairs! 11!! And I feel like I’ve missed a pair as well!! The worst thing is . . . I keep looking for more. I see my favourite bloggers in a different type of boot and I’m like . . . want! Want! WANT!

So I think it’s my latest obsession. Like when I had ten thousand dolly shoes (this is a small exaggeration) it was more like 12 thousand. But I like to think, on the plus side these have a bit more sole to them, they don’t hurt my feet (unless they pinch, but that’s just wearing them in . . .) and they are ankle friendly! So win win!

I’m hoping to get the new brown boots on the blog soon so stay tuned!!

Jacket: Next 2008/9 Top: Gap Skirt: H&M 2012 Shoes: New Look summer 2013 Bag: Victorias Secret, gifted by Joshes lovely parents.

I am, let’s be honest here, a bit of a hoarder. I often buy things in bulk and stick to things that I know work, and work well. That’s why I have no less than five stretchy (jersey) pencil skirts. Now my mother would say that’s about four too many and yes, she’s right (whose mother isn’t? Can I get an amen?) But here’s my argument.

I work in an office five days a week. That’s five skirts! Can I rest my case? Your right, probably not. Especially since I have jeans, jeggings, treggings, dresses, two pairs of actual trousers somewhere . . . (read: not worn much, eh?) But anyway a great jersey skirt ticks all my boxes, they aren’t too restrictive which is great for you know, moving, sleeping in on the train (what? Me?) Just sitting . . . all day . . . and they don’t crease; they don’t need ironing (as if that would happen anyway) so what’s not to love?

Even better, I find is that I can wear them in a varied amount of lengths. This is doubly great at the moment as the trend is for the midi skirt in a jersey material. So yes, maybe I bought too many but now each skirt can be worn like this!

This is probably the least flattering of all the looks on me as I’m pretty top heavy (plus an apple shape – joy of all joys) but I do wear them like this anyway – I like to think the camera adds weight. That’s still a thing right? Regardless if you’re tall girl, rejoice! Cause a mid-length jersey skirt can be pulled higher to be a just over a knee or later this week a tall girl acceptable mini!

You can’t say I never gave you anything . . .

When you show off your date night on a Monday (So cruel I am)

ImageImageImageImageImage

Isn’t it mean when the blog your reading advertises their romantic weekend on a Monday . . . Yeah me too, its akin to someone constantly updating about their fancy holiday away somewhere hot and you’ve only got a short weekend months away!

But apparently i’m not above all that so here goes . . . I had a wonderful weekend. We decided to see despicable me on the weekend and as we won’t get time next weekend we figured we’d start celebrating Joshes birthday a week early (any excuse).

So of to Rochester we trot and got dinner at pizza express and that calls for only one thing, incredibly high sandals and coloured jeans. Of course by the time we went to the movie I figured it was time for a shoe change and a chance to drive the car!

therefore . . .

and all that equals one perfect date night . . .

The £1 Fish of a skirt And other fashion choices . . .

I have just got to tell you all about this skirt I bought. A £1!!! Who buys a skirt for a £1 these days? and on top of that who buys it brand new, rather than thrifted for just a £1!? no one, I tell you, no one. It pretty much made my day.

I promise, also that I will photograph it properly. See, I went through this great period in time when I dressed up for the weekend, I even wore make up I just really enjoyed getting dressed. However, with the good weather and the fact that I don’t have a particularly bad cold right now we have begun going out more and more on the weekend. Most of which involves dressing up in work out clothes or sweat pants to move our flat’s furniture around so I must say that my weekend dressing has been anything but great and I miss it!

I miss actually putting something great together, I’d like to say that next weekend i’ll be out of sweats but exercise? Good thing we have such great weather still when I get home from work, huh?

On top of that you see, this great little denim jacket? Well I have been searching for one for, forever . . . but they have always been too boxy and too short in the body. But then finally I found one in the tall section of next. In my size, I was ready to order. But of course I waited a day (so it would be in store for Saturday) and of course I go to order it and its out of stock in every damn size. So I suppose what i’m asking is, if you see a slightly fitted denim jacket in a tall section somewhere, tell me!!!

’cause i’m going crazy over here, the one summer staple and I can’t find one to save my life! Typical . . . Typical . . .

I also have a small stripe addiction and by small I mean HUGE.

If the mountain won’t come to Muhammad . . .

ImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImage

Finally, you get to see these photos! I’ve been sitting on these beauties for what feels like months now. But you’ll be glad to know its only been about a week or two. But yes this was me hoping that if I brought out the summer sandals that we might get some sun! So far not so much luck, but it might be looking up come sunday! fingers crossed!

After all are we meant to be wearing leather jackets in spring?
