Date Night, Everynight.

I am a firm believer that date nights should happen as often as possible. It needn’t be fancy or even with a significant other but finding some time for a fancier dinner or a meal out is always a good idea.

Me and Josh are massive foodies and when I say massive, I mean massive! Since knowing Josh m food preferences have grown an awful lot! He is incredibly adventurous when it comes to food and I have to say, its worn off on me somewhat!

This past Saturday was one where we decided to have a nice date night at home. After all whether its at home or out its always a nice night to break with tradition. This past weekend we lived the tapas dream picking up a few of our favourites to have a nice picky meal together with of course a little red wine!

We also adore setting the mood. We like to do this by adding candles as well as something beautiful to be set on the table and often we pick out a great soundtrack to play in the background. In the last year its featured quite heavily on the music we’d like to feature at our wedding.

We are currently burning through a fuzzy duck candle from Christmas and Diptyques Amber for something pretty we pulled out our incense burner which was bought for Josh by his parents in Saudi Arabia.

Our food adventure this week didn’t end there and on Sunday we experimented with greek yogurt, banana muffins as well as baking an over the top Smitten Kitten red velvet cake (it has wine in it!). We also made a fancy sausage roll to have with salad for our lunch/come main meal of the day which featured sausage along with chorizo and apple!

Today I am in leggings and a tunic something like this . . . In the middle of the working week you ask? Why yes, yes indeed because today I have been living the dream and have been out shopping for Phoenix and the Lions Spring Antique and Vintage stock  at Newark’s International Antiques and Collectors Fair. We spent a grand total of five and half hours today collecting some really great pieces for the store and man do my feet want a break!

In fact on the topic of feet I have been missing my heels with a passion! I have lived in flat boots, converse and ballet pumps for so long now that I will do (almost) anything to put on my heels again. So of course date night with the boy has become a weekly thing just so I can wear my many heels for a few hours! (not all at the same time of course – that would be silly . . . or genius?)

Luckily this weekend we are going away to Oxfordshire with my family to celebrate my grandparents 50th wedding anniversary! So not only do I get to spend time with my favourite people in the world but I also have an excuse to pull out my heels again (and tower over Josh – He must love me!)

Until then for what we got up to (with limited internet I may add – the horror!) Check out the official Phoenix and the Lion Twitter page! we found the cutest pigs that have a fantastic story that’ll all be revealed soon!

psstttt . . . I’m wearing this tomorrow! (god forbid I explain the title! – it’s been a long day . . .)

If theres one thing I love about February its that firstly its not January (*shudder*) and secondly that it marks another year that Josh has put up with me. This years marking the big 4-, well 4. But I think thats pretty impressive to be honest. Living with me . . .

As I have mentioned before here+ February also marks our date weekend! Because of this pretty much all our thoughts are tied up in when we’re going, what we’re going to get to eat from Greenwich Market or see The Science Museum or getting Turkish from Efes Meze on Trafalgar Road in the evening . . . Its just one of our favourite times of year and we like to think, the most magical!

Fingers crossed that we can also get some great outfit shots in the campus of my Alma Mater as well!!

An Old One

So, I was originally going to do a post on Instagram but WordPress threw a paddy. i threw one back and it took us a couple of hours to forgive one another, therefore here you have it. Me from a date night over the summer.

On this day Maidstone was throwing its yearly river festival which means I somehow successfully had my photo taken with a tonne of people on boats watching me, wasn’t I lucky? But it must show my years blogging stripes as it didn’t phase me.

What did phase me however, was this morning we were taking photos for later in the week and no joke this guy saw us walked over and then proceeded to stare me in the eyes for ages. It was creepy but did it stop me? no.

However, the photos later in the week? they might have been compromised *apologies for my petrified expressions*.

Cruel and unusual. This is thursday’s/maybe fridays outfit post. But I had planned to take two outfit posts this weekend, but of course life meant that we fell asleep on the couch watching cloudy with a chance of meatballs on Netflix’s. It happens more times than it should thats for sure.

So instead, I figured I’d do a five things post about life lately. To make it up to you. I’d hate for you to stop dropping on by – otherwise poor Josh’ll have to put up with my useless ramblings all on his own! The horror (I can see Josh Shuddering from here!) So . . .

1. I love date night, they are just the highlight of the month.  For this month we enjoyed an amazing new starter dish from Zizzi. It just blew us away we love a good fish dish and this just ticked all the boxes, squid rings, prawns and whitebate, what more could you want? Oh yeah, wine but we had that too so it was perfect . . .

2. I’m braving swimming, alone tomorrow. For the first time. I don’t know when I became so useless at doing things like this on my own. Going running on my own? shopping? driving? Work? meetings with strangers? sure no problem. But going swimming cycling alone? oh god no. The horror. Luckily for me I’m now on mandatory physio approved sports so the having to suck it up and do it thing is helping quite considerably. Which leads me onto . . .

3. I’ve started another round of physiotherapy for my previously broken ankle. I thought it was gonna be great, six sessions maybe and then out? But instead I got told how concerned they were and that I would need to come in every week and have two hours in their gym if possible. On top of that they might still have to put me forward for xrays and possibly surgery. . . .

And believe me my surgical options? Gross. Either Knocking me out and drugging me so they can physically move my ankle for me (hopefully without re fracturing it). Or going in, removing the plates and screws and scraping (Yes, the word scrape was used . . icky, icky, ick.) out all the gross bits and scar tissue. Lovely. Needless to say I’ve upped my approved sports (I got banned from running and hiking) so I’m now doing a lot of cycling, swimming and stretches. I now even brush my teeth standing on one leg just to make sure I don’t have to go through all that again!

4. I’m finally feeling a bit rested again. For some reason this winter a, stretched on forever and then gave me so many colds and things to do I felt like I barely stopped except to be incredibly unwell or B, have a flare up of IBS or just have a million things to do!

We went to my parents last? maybe two weeks ago and it was lovely. I got to see all my lovely besties from H-town. Chill with my family and just have a bit of breathing space from the manicness that has been going on these days. Its been wonderful and our weekends have been a bit more chill which has been awesome.

So i’m feeling good, and that is just plain awesome.

5. And finally?

(I know, thank god your thinking) Shopping! This month I’ve only allotted a small amount of fashion money (its car paying month – how is it MOT’s Road Tax and insurance always managed to bunch up all at the same time?) So I actually planned for once!

I have fallen in love with the Autumn fashion again, it happens every year I just can’t seem to stop myself! But Next is always my starting base I love getting a few basic see you through pieces and its been no different this year. As you’ve seen in the post below.

So this month I thought I’d invest in some flat heeled, knee high boots and their most amazing herringbone leggings! So fun and comfy for once! (I’ve always struggled with trousers without stretch, I’m obviously a strange shape!)

So look forward to seeing those on the blog soon! and the green dress later this week! until then, enjoy the sun! I’ll see you soon!

When you show off your date night on a Monday (So cruel I am)

ImageImageImageImageImage

Isn’t it mean when the blog your reading advertises their romantic weekend on a Monday . . . Yeah me too, its akin to someone constantly updating about their fancy holiday away somewhere hot and you’ve only got a short weekend months away!

But apparently i’m not above all that so here goes . . . I had a wonderful weekend. We decided to see despicable me on the weekend and as we won’t get time next weekend we figured we’d start celebrating Joshes birthday a week early (any excuse).

So of to Rochester we trot and got dinner at pizza express and that calls for only one thing, incredibly high sandals and coloured jeans. Of course by the time we went to the movie I figured it was time for a shoe change and a chance to drive the car!

therefore . . .

Image

and all that equals one perfect date night . . .

Mondays unlike Sundays . . .

Don’t give you time for photo-shoots.

Unfortunately for you guys my work day means I don’t get home until eight o’clock at best, so taking photographs tend to take a back seat to things like catching up on news, Kate Middleton is pregnant? (Im hoping its a girl) and eating dinner etc . . . So for todays out fit all I have is this ->

Top – H&M (Current Season) Skirt – H&M (Past season – Basics Collection) (Skull) Scarf – Zara (Portugal) Belt – Next (2009)

And its in a mirror! double wammy of rubbishness! So I figured, this is a Monday! I cant be giving all you poor worker bees such a boring post so luckily the other day I shot some fun shots for date night, because too much work attire drives anyone crazy!

Jumper (Dorothy Perkins), Scarf (Fat Face), Top (H&M, this season), Necklace (Accessorize), Belt (Next, 2009), Skirt (H&M, this season), Boots (New Look, This season)

My apologies for the blurriness but we had to take these photos with our tiny camera (mini me). But also don’t you love the funnyness of these boots, I like to call these my cowgirl boots, but I like the whimsy they add to this outfit without them, this could be a bit plain!

Until next time, Have a lovely week! xoxo
